2024 Flower CSA

Winter is slowly, but surely, easing up and before we know it Spring will be here. This means that it is time to begin registration for the eighth season of the Island Meadow Farm Flower CSA! This season I will be working from a smaller greenhouse space due to the significant damage from Hurricane Fiona in 2022. As of today, there is still much to be done, but I am hopeful to be seeding next month as usual! Our Island Meadow Farm Flower CSA has been so warmly appreciated by our customers and we are very much looking forward to growing, harvesting, and designing beautiful weekly bouquets for you and your friends in 2024.

Before you order, a few important notes about the coming season:

We would like to point out that although there is no “Full Season Weekly” offering this year, you can still enjoy a full growing season of fresh, local, flowers. To receive flowers every week, simply purchase both the Bi-weekly A and the Bi-Weekly B CSA shares.

As always, we will do our best to accommodate you when travels or other commitments prevent you from picking up, however, we must receive advanced notice when you are unable to collect your subscription. When you know you will be away it would be very much appreciated if you can offer your bouquet to a friend or neighbour to enjoy in your absence.

Finally, if our subscription options do not meet your specific needs, please know that we have Gift Certificates available! Our Gift Certificates can be redeemed for pre-order bouquets of your choice, and anytime throughout the season at our self-serve Blue Wagon. If you would like more information or to purchase a Gift Certificate, please email flowers@islandmeadowfarm.ca.

NOTE: All members of our 2024 CSA will receive a detailed email outlining these pick-up instructions prior to their first CSA pick-up of the season!

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Flower CSA

  • What is a CSA?

Community Supported Agriculture, often abbreviated to ‘CSA’, is a system that connects the producer (that’s us) directly to the consumer (that’s you!), with an upfront purchase of a share of the coming season’s harvests. This advanced payment model, often due in the late Winter, allows farmers the financial flexibility to better deal with many early costs of the coming season. By joining our local flower CSA you show your support and trust in our ability to provide the community with our beautiful fresh bouquets throughout the growing season. In return, from us, you receive weekly bouquets of local and sustainably grown seasonal flowers

  • Will all of the flowers in my CSA bouquets have been grown on the farm?

Yes!! In 2019 Island Meadow Farm made the choice to use exclusively local flowers and foliage in all of our designs. All of the flowers in your bouquet will have been grown here. In fact, most of them will have been started from seed in our greenhouses, some seeded as early as March, and then hand planted out into our fields. The only thing better than that is knowing that the flowers have been harvested fresh and carefully arranged, just for you, all within 72 hours of your scheduled pick-up!

  • What if I am unable to Pick-Up my bouquet this week?

If, for whatever reason, you are unable to pick-up one of your bouquets please send us advanced notice via email OR arrange to have a friend collect your subscription on your behalf. If a friend is picking up your flowers, it is important that you inform us that someone else will be collecting your bouquet (otherwise, we may not release it to them!).

Starting this season, we will not be keeping any uncollected or forgotten bouquets in our cooler or offering ‘make-up’ bouquets for a later date. To not arrange collection for your bouquet within 48hrs of the scheduled pick-up window is to forfeit your bouquet that week - which we truly hope you will not do. Our team works incredibly hard to prepare a bouquet, of only the freshest local and seasonal flowers, for every one of our CSA members each week. To have our members not collect their flowers during the scheduled window is very discouraging and, sadly, defeats the intention of our work. From now on, any uncollected bouquets will be donated to a near-by special care home for the residents to enjoy.

  • What does my Island Meadow Farm Flower CSA include?

In 2024 Island Meadow Farm will be offering CSA subscriptions in the following four formats: ‘The Preferred Palette’ (NEW THIS YEAR! A beautiful bouquet in the member’s preferred colour palette. Same week palette submission request is required. See full details in Product Description), ‘Bi-Weekly A’ (spanning the full season, 5 alternating weeks), ‘Bi-Weekly B’ (spanning the full season, 4 alternating weeks). We hope to once again offer the ‘Dahlia Love’ (four consecutive weeks of gorgeous dahlias in their prime season) - but this subscription purchase will not open until later in the 2024 growing season. Stay tuned for additional information.

For more information on each type of share, please read through the descriptions available at the point of order. Each of our subscriptions include a series of beautiful, fresh, local, and seasonal bouquets, chosen by you, available for pick-up at the farm on scheduled Wednesdays between 12:30PM and 5:30PM.

If you would like to sign up for the Full Season, to receive a full Summer’s worth of WEEKLY flowers in 2024, be sure to “add to cart” both the ‘Bi-Weekly A’ and the ‘Bi-Weekly B’ before proceeding to the checkout.

  • Where can I pick up my bouquet?

You will be able to pick-up your bouquets on scheduled Wednesdays at Island Meadow Farm in York. This season our Pick-Up Window will be from 12:30PM - 5:30PM. The farm is located just across the road from Vesey’s, at 450 RTE-25, York.
